The BC Centre for Palliative Care invites community-based organizations to partner with us in promoting Advance Care Planning (ACP) across British Columbia.

Together, we can empower British Columbians to make their wishes known — ensuring they receive care that truly reflects their values, beliefs, and life goals.

About the Training

Our nationally recognized ACP Facilitator Training equips participants with practical skills and evidence-based tools to lead meaningful and culturally respectful conversations about health care wishes and planning.

The 3-part interactive program (6 hours total) is a blend of online learning modules and live virtual workshops designed to support learning, practice, and community connection and gives participants:

  • The confidence to guide ACP discussions in their communities
  • Access to a comprehensive library of ACP resources and templates
  • Follow-up coaching and support from the BC Centre for Palliative Care team

to community-based, non-profit organizations across British Columbia.

Advance Care Planning is a process that supports adults at any age or stage of health in understanding and sharing their personal values, life goals, and preferences regarding future medical care.

The goal of Advance Care Planning is to help ensure that people receive medical care that is consistent with their values, goals and preferences during serious and chronic illness.

Who Should Attend?

Staff and volunteers affiliated with community-based, non-profit organizations in BC interested in supporting public education on Advance Care Planning.

Upon completion of the training, participants will have:

  • Knowledge of ACP principles and facilitation techniques
  • Practice in leading sensitive conversations
  • Access to a culturally adapted ACP toolkit including a facilitator guide, PowerPoint slides, promotional materials, and public resources in multiple languages.
  • Access to coaching support from ACP experts
  • Recognition as a BCCPC-certified ACP Facilitator
