Falling for ECHO … what’s coming in autumn

Flexing Your Core

We are pleased to announce that our cornerstone ECHO learning, Flexing Your Core is back! Flexing Your Core promotes a palliative approach to care and is foundational learning for anyone working with and supporting people with life altering illnesses. Open to health care providers and students who provide direct care for people with life-limiting illness in any health care setting. This series:

  • Is based on eight (8) Learning Hub modules created by a team of experts in palliative care and adult education, alongside a focus group of health care providers
  • Offers education that can be applied to patients of any age, at any point from diagnosis to bereavement, in all care settings
  • Brings further context to the learning hub content and give attendees an opportunity to learn from others and discuss case studies together

Building on the success of the pilot stage, the Fall 2023 offering of Flexing Your Core has been updated and improved based on the comments and feedback from registrants and participants, for which we are incredibly thankful. The survey established that attendees both new to and familiar with a palliative approach to care found these foundational education sessions beneficial. For some it was new information and for others it was an important refresher and reminder. For the pilot stage, we tested 30-minute sessions and found through survey feedback that a little more time for discussion was needed. Sessions will now be 45 minutes in length, giving the much-needed time for participants to learn from and with each other.

Flexing your Core will be starting on September 22. Register here for the first session Domain 1 Principles of Palliative Care & Palliative Approach.

Check out Flexing Your Core on our ECHO webpage for more information as registration opens for upcoming sessions in the series.
