SUMMARY:The role of nurses in equity-oriented palliative care
DESCRIPTION:Event hosted by: CPCNA \nRegistration: \n\n\nFREE for Members \n\n\n$40 for non-Members \n\n\nThere is limited capacity so register early! \n\n\nCPCNA is pleased to present Dan Grover\, RN\, BN\, BSc  and Kelli Stajduhar\, RN\, PhD\, FCAHS\, FCAN who will be speaking to us on Wednesday\, June 16\, 2021 at 9-10am \nWhile increasingly recognized as a human right\, access to palliative care is still not a given. Even though palliative care as a concept seems to be unanimously supported\, it is still not readily available to all Canadians. Those who do benefit from palliative care services tend to also benefit from higher socio-economic status and family support\, as opposed to those people facing the end-of-life who also face inequities like homelessness\, poverty\, isolation\, racism\, and stigma. In our presentation\, we will discuss the key roles that nurses can play to facilitate equity-oriented palliative car\, in order to promote “palliative care for all” who need it in our communities. Lessons learned from our work in inner city mobile palliative care will be shared. \n  \nTo register click here

SUMMARY:Webinar Series: What to say when you don't know what to say
DESCRIPTION:Event hosted by:  Life & Death Matters Inc.\,  Hospice Palliative Care Ontario (HPCO) and Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association. \nThese webinars are for Personal Support Workers\, Health Care Assistants\, and Continuing Care Assistants\, and will be beneficial for everyone supporting people with life-limiting and life-threatening illness. \n“My biggest fear is not knowing what to say…” “What is someone asks me….” Feeling the need to have the right answer or to say the right thing is incredibly stressful. The good news is that we do not need a “right answer”\, we cannot answer all questions\, and we cannot fix all suffering. In this session we will look at the basics\, the importance of presence\, and provide some helpful tips for caring conversations.\nPresented by Michelle O’Rourke \nThis session will highlight elements of Course #1 in the new PSW Online Learning Program \nTo register for an individual event or the whole series click here

SUMMARY:The Pandemic Made Me Do It - Moving from "death by PowerPoint" to engaging e-learning
DESCRIPTION:Dates:\nTuesday\, November 2nd\, 2021  \nFocus:\nThroughout the pandemic\, educators have had to scramble to modify in-person sessions to online. Most of the time\, the best we could do was PowerPoint over Zoom. The downside was that learners could have the camera off and could be snoozing\, not even in the room\, or even walking the dog. On the upside\, those living in rural and remote areas or those who don’t have time to leave their desk have had more\, and more accessible\, education opportunities. How to keep the good and lose the bad?
